During the spring 2025 election, Prime Minister Carney promised Canadians a better fiscal roadmap, a smaller deficit and an overhaul of federal spending.
But after nearly 8 months in office his "new" Liberal government is failing by every measure.
The November 4, 2025 federal budget – the Liberals' first since spring 2024 – confirms that Canada's annual spending deficit has reached an eye-popping level: Over $78 billion in the current year alone, up from $42.9 billion in April 2024.
Worse, the Liberals plan to run yearly deficits in excess of $50 billion out to at least 2030 for total projected deficit spending of more than $322 billion over the next 5 years.
If this wasn't bad enough, it now appears that the finance minister has resorted to cooking the books by reclassifying or changing how certain federal spending has been reported for decades.
And Carney still has no deal with the U.S. to rectify Trump's unjustified tariffs on Canadian-produced autos and parts, steel, aluminum, lumber, energy or farm products, along with countless other goods we export.
Why does every single Liberal budget end the same way?
Something needs to give – and soon.

The Petition
Whereas Canadians have already sacrificed enough are losing hope about their future;
Whereas Young families and future generations are being saddled with debt levels that will result in decades of higher taxes; and,
Whereas Taxpayers deserve full transparency about the state of their country's finances,
Therefore We call upon the Prime Minister to:
- Bring federal spending under control and guarantee full transparency in the classification and reporting of federal spending;
- Cut taxes on work, homebuilding, investment and energy;
- Scrap the four hidden taxes on food: the industrial carbon tax on fertilizer and farm equipment, the 17-cent/litre fuel standard carbon tax on gas and diesel, the billion-dollar food packaging tax, and the Liberal inflation tax; and,
- Reduce the federal deficit that Trudeau left behind by unlocking resource development and cutting wasteful spending on bureaucracy, consultants, corporate welfare, and foreign aid.
