OSHAWA, ON – Today the Conservative Party of Canada announed that Rhonda Kirkland, an Oshawa resident, educational therapist and lifelong volunteer, has earned the nomination as the Oshawa riding’s Conservative candidate in Canada's next federal general election, widely expected in 2025.

"With Pierre Poilievre as leader of our Party, Conservatives across Canada and here in Oshawa have never been more united. My team and have hit the ground running and work extremely hard to earn the right to bring a strong voice and a common sense persepective to the House of Commons."

In late April 2024, Oshawa Member of Parliament (MP), Colin Carrie, announced that he will not re-offer in the next election. Conservative members nominated Mr. Carrie as their candidate in 2004. He went on to win 7 hard-fought federal contests, tying the electoral records of former Oshawa MPs, the late Hon. Mike Starr (Conservative) and the late Hon. Ed Broadbent (New Democrat) each of whom won 7 elections in the federal riding of Oshawa and its antecdent riding of Ontario.

"I'm extremely grateful to my team of volunteers and supporters. Over the past several months, we hit the streets and earned the confidence of Oshawa's Conservative family one vote and one doorstep at a time.

It's a privilege to be entrusted with carrying our Party's banner here in Oshawa and I believe that I'm the right person at right time, for the right reasons," Kirkland said.
