Our Commitment to Protecting Your Privacy
Your privacy is important to us.
The Rhonda Kirkland Campaign and Oshawa Conservative Association (hereafter the "Campaign/Association"), including persons or organizations acting on our behalf, as well as the Campaign/Association's agents, volunteers, or representatives (collectively, the "Campaign", "we" or "us") will respect your privacy through the protection of any personal information that you may provide to us.
Our volunteers take special care to keep both confidential and secure all personal information in our possession. As a federal candidate subject to the provisions of the Canada Elections Act, the Campaign/Association is subject to extensive regulation under this Act, including public disclosure requirements for campaign contributions of $200 or more.
This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information that is collected, used, or disclosed by the Campaign/Association, whether it is collected electronically via our website or other digital platforms (each shall be considered a "site"), either in person or by telephone. This Policy applies to each site on which it is posted.
What "Personal Information" Do We Collect?
"Personal information" is information about an identifiable individual and may include personal contact information that we collect such as an individual's name, address, email address and telephone number. We may also collect information regarding your residence, family members, language preference, political views or affiliation, voting preferences, donations, and related financial information (like payment method and billing information) or any other information you may choose to share with us.
Collecting Personal Information
In addition, we generally collect personal information directly from individuals. We may also collect personal information from publicly available data or sources. At the appropriate time during the upcoming election campaign period, Elections Canada will furnish each officially registered candidate with a list of eligible voters residing in the Oshawa federal electoral district.
We collect personal information from members, supporters and donors when they purchase a membership, contribute to, or correspond with our Campaign. You may choose to provide us with personal information on a voluntary basis, such as when registering for an event, signing up on our site, contacting the Campaign/Association, or submitting a form at www.rhondakirkland.ca/contact or the Campaign/Association's social media channels. We are required to keep records of donors for purposes of reporting to Elections Canada.
If you submit your e-mail address and/or personal information through one of our sites, you consent to being added to our e-mail or text lists. You may unsubscribe from our e-mail or text list at any time using the link provided in each message.
Usage and Disclosure of Personal Information
We use your personal information to communicate with you. As federal political entities, we believe it is important to communicate with supporters, prospective supporters, and constituents on a regular basis.
The Campaign's database and lists generated from it are used for activities such as fundraising, member recruitment, outreach, canvassing and volunteer activities, and to customize our supporters' experience. The Conservative Party of Canada may share your personal information with its candidates, including our Campaign/Association, for the purposes of communicating with you.
Your personal information may be used by third party service providers that we engage for limited purposes, such as website hosting, analytics, or e-mail service providers, in accordance with our agreements with those service providers that restrict the use of your personal information and require the implementation of appropriate security safeguards.
Additionally, non-personal information may be collected by the Campaign/Association through the use of cookies, including third-party cookies. Cookies help us to track how people are using our site and assist the Campaign/Association in tailoring customized content to visitors.
